ROMS Offline Lagrangian Trajectories
Solves for 3-D or 2-D Lagrangian trajectories from ROMS velocities in Python. Below: Lagrangian particle (colored dots) trajectories in a ROMS simulation of the Santa Barbara Channel with horizontal resolution of 36 m. Surface relative vorticity is overlaid (red/blue contours). |
Transient Turbulent Thermal Wind (T^3W) Model
An idealized model coded in Python that solves the transient turbulent thermal wind equations. It is used to investigate the diurnal evolution of submesoscale front and filament circulations with separate dimensional and non-dimensional models. Below: Idealized simulation of the turbulent thermal wind equations for a dense filament undergoing diurnal heating and cooling.
